Some Me

I always feel a little pretentious writing about myself in the third person so I think I’ll just go first person on this one:

I’m a student of life, I write novels, I own a video game design lab and I run constantly. I studied anthropology and art history as an undergrad and molecular biology as a grad student.

I love video games, soccer, hockey and mixed martial arts. I’ve played baseball my entire life. I enjoy snowboarding immensely and I absolutely love jumping out of airplanes and off of high things with nothing but ballistic nylon holding me in the here and now.

I don’t quite know what I want out of life except to say that happiness is the deciding factor; if it makes you happy do it. Or as my favorite professional surfer says:

“Do it ’cause it’s fun or don’t do it.”

Thank you Shane Dorian.

I guess I could always round this out with a dozen or so more quotes that really make people get me.

I’m not going to do that.

I’ll say this though, I’m just like everyone else. I’m the summation of a lifetime spent wondering and experiencing, traveling and staying put. I’ve pulled up, and put down roots at various times and I’m never afraid to try something new.

I like change, it reminds me that I’m still alive.

I have never feared death, but I’m not exactly rushing toward it either – it’s just another journey.

I’ve lived all over the world, courtesy of the United States Army. Europe, South and Central America, Mid-East and various bases all over North America: It was, without a doubt, the best way I can think of to grow from boy to man.

I firmly believe that life should be about those amazing moments that are of such startling intensity that you find yourself barely able to breathe; your mind whirling in a thousand different directions.

If you’re lucky enough to find a person that can make you feel like that, grab on and don’t you ever let go: that’s what a soulmate is.

    sigh… I firmly agree. lovely blog : )

  1. I’m just going to take a wild guess and say you probably live in California. Being from the New York City region myself, I can say I wish I was as laid back as you are, but I ain’t. šŸ™‚

    • Haha pretty close guess, the first place I lived in the states was San Diego, you can take the kid out of Cali but you can never take the Cali out of the kid!

      • I just re-read your about. I’ve never jumped out of a plane, but it’s been a life long aspiration. I can imagine it’s pulse pounding pure adrenaline.

And while you mention you like surfing, you don’t mention extreme skiing or snowboarding one way or the other. Wanted to mention I recently put up a post called Why I Love Warren Miller. You’d probably like it.

Oh yeah, thanks for “liking” my post ‘I am not cool.’

      • I actually do snowboard, just not enough, I wrote a post a while back talking about all of the ridiculous things I do for adrenaline in which I mentioned snowboarding. I’ll definitely check out the post you mentioned! Thanks for stopping by šŸ™‚

  2. No ‘contact me’ link? OK, I’ll stick it here. Remember talking about intensity and not wanting to settle?

    BAM! There it is:

    • That’s an interesting blog post for sure, good ideas (some bad spelling though, and that drives me nuts) and I definitely remember the conversation – my life is still an adrenaline-fueled thrill-ride but as I grow older and bolder I continue to seek crazier ‘sports’ to try out: some things never change I guess.

Also, I added a contact page haha
